Who we are

GritLock is developed and published by BuildingRome Studio LLC. Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@buildingrome.dev.

Data that stays on your device

The following data is stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to us or any third party:

• Health and workout data. GritLock requests read-only access to Apple Health to verify workout goals (workout minutes, active calories, Apple Exercise minutes). We read this data on-device to check whether your unlock condition is met. We do not copy, transmit, or store health data outside your device.
• Shielded app list. The apps you choose to block are stored locally using Apple Screen Time (FamilyControls). This list is never transmitted anywhere.
• Shield schedules, streak history, and settings. All stored locally in your App Group container. Deleting the app deletes all of this data.

Data we may receive

Waitlist email (optional, website only). If you join the waitlist at gritlock.buildingrome.dev, your email address is stored in a Supabase database hosted in the US. We use it only to notify you when GritLock launches. You can request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@buildingrome.dev.

Pro subscriber email (optional, in-app only). After upgrading to GritLock Pro, the app displays a one-time, optional prompt to join our early access list. If you choose to submit your email, it is sent to a Resend audience list and used only for product updates and early access offers. This prompt can be skipped at any time. You can unsubscribe by emailing privacy@buildingrome.dev.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

GritLock requests read-only access to the following HealthKit data types:

• Workout sessions (HKWorkoutType)
• Active energy burned (HKQuantityTypeIdentifierActiveEnergyBurned)
• Apple Exercise Time (HKQuantityTypeIdentifierAppleExerciseTime)

This data is used exclusively to determine whether your workout goal has been met so a shield can be cleared. We do not write to Apple Health. We do not share Health data with any third party. Health data is never used for advertising or analytics.

Apple Screen Time (FamilyControls)

GritLock uses Apple's Screen Time framework to block the apps you select. This requires the FamilyControls entitlement, approved by Apple. Your app selections are stored on-device only and are not accessible to us.

In-app purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. BuildingRome Studio LLC does not receive or store your payment information. Purchase history and entitlements are managed by Apple StoreKit. You can restore purchases at any time without contacting us.

Analytics and advertising

GritLock contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no data brokers. We do not track your behavior across apps or websites.

Children

GritLock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data retention and deletion

All on-device data is deleted when you delete the app. To delete your waitlist or Pro email, contact privacy@buildingrome.dev and we will remove it within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify users via in-app notification or email. Continued use of GritLock after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
