How can we help?
If something isn't working right or you have a question about Grit-Lock, we're here for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Grit-Lock block my apps?
On iOS, Grit-Lock uses Apple's Screen Time framework (FamilyControls) to block apps at the system level. On Android, it uses an overlay that covers blocked apps. Both methods work without rooting or jailbreaking your device.
Can I still use my phone in an emergency?
Yes. Phone calls, messages, and system apps are never blocked. Grit-Lock also includes an emergency bypass with escalating friction so you can always get to your apps if you truly need them. You never lose access to your device.
What data does Grit-Lock collect?
None. All data stays on your device. Grit-Lock reads workout data from Apple Health or Health Connect to verify your activity, but that data never leaves your phone. There are no accounts, no servers, and no tracking.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your device's app store. On iOS, go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. On Android, open the Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions. You can cancel anytime and keep Pro features until the end of your billing period.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open Grit-Lock, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." Your Pro status is tied to your Apple ID or Google account, so it transfers automatically when you sign in on a new device.
Why does Grit-Lock need Health access?
Grit-Lock reads your workout data (workout minutes, active calories, or exercise minutes) to verify that you've completed your goal before unlocking your apps. It only reads data and never writes or shares anything.
Why does Grit-Lock need Screen Time / FamilyControls permission?
This is how Grit-Lock blocks apps at the OS level. Without this permission, Grit-Lock cannot enforce shields. You grant it once during setup and can revoke it anytime in your device's Settings.
My shield didn't activate at the scheduled time. What happened?
Make sure the shield is enabled (toggle is on) and that the scheduled days include today. On Android, also check that battery optimization is disabled for Grit-Lock so background scheduling works reliably.
I verified my workout but apps are still blocked. Why?
Apple Health and Health Connect can take a few minutes to sync workout data. Wait a moment and try verifying again. Make sure your workout app (Apple Workout, Strava, etc.) has permission to write to Health.
